Mackinac Island Back

4 Day Package
Departing Sunday, June 25, 2017

Off the Straits of Mackinac, part of the International waterway system between the United States and Canada, sits peaceful Mackinac Island. Experience this idyllic place where cars are prohibited by law. See the beauty of this island the way visitors throughout the centuries have seen it-by horse and carriage. First night, arrive in Houghton Lake, MI and have dinner at your hotel and show-The Gordon Lightfoot concert, featuring classic tunes made famous by the Canadian balladeer . After breakfast the next day, depart with your guide to Charlevoix MI who will show you the architectural diversity of this lovely city. Highlighted are more than thirty “mushroom houses” built out of native stone and sport cedar shake roofs. Continue onward for lunch at Castle Farms and enjoy a walking and tram tour through this unique facility. The completed buildings and landscaped gardens are breathtaking. Afterwards, we’ll depart for Mackinac City and ferry to the island. As you step upon the island you will feel like you have stepped back in time. Horse drawn vehicles transport everything from supplies for the businesses on the island to passengers. Accommodations tonight are on the island. The next day after breakfast we’ll board a carriage for a tour of the island. The tour concludes at the GRAND HOTEL for the buffet lunch. After lunch, we’ll return to downtown Mackinac and board the ferry to St. Ignace. Meet your guide for a fascinating ride across the Mighty Mac. This was the longest suspension bridge in the world; hear dramatic tales of the brave iron workers who built this bridge. This afternoon, we’re off to THUNDER BAY RESORT. This evening, step back in time as you board a horse drawn carriage that takes you over the Thunder Bay River and through the woods at Thunder Bay Resort. Enjoy the scenery, the smell of the pine, and the ever changing face of the Thunder Bay River as the horses make their way deep in the woods to the beautiful Elk Antler Log Cabin. A blazing fire in a massive split stone fireplace welcomes you. Culinary artist Spenser James and his staff prepare your gourmet meal. Throughout your dinner, sample five to seven wines from nearby Stoney Acres Winery as attentive servers see to your every need. Overnight accommodations are at the Thunder Bay Resort. After breakfast the next day at the Clubhouse Grill, we’ll depart for home with everlasting memories of a beautiful trip.
