Bar Harbor is a town on Mt. Desert Island (pronounced dessert, because it really is a treat!) in Hancock County Maine known as the Gateway to Acadia National Park right on gorgeous Frenchman’s Bay. First night stopover will be at the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Springfield MA. After breakfast, which is included, the following day, we’ll travel to NUBBLE LIGHT, Maine’s most photographed lighthouse, for a photo op, spend time at scenic Perkin’s Cove filled with shops, galleries, eateries and spectacular views from the Marginal Way, a walk along the rocky coastline. Ocean views and elegant accommodations on the “Most Beautiful Island in America”, BLUENOSE INN, Bar Harbor ME, await you at this full-service hotel boasting sweeping views of Frenchman Bay. Dinner included tonight. After a full breakfast on day 3, meet your guide and be amazed at the natural wonders of ACADIA NAATIONAL PARK, a Maine treasure. You will trave to the Peak of Cadillac Mountain for breathtaking views of the mountains and the Atlantic. Venture to Otter Point and experience the rocky cliffs jutting out into the crashing surf. Witness the wonder of Sieur De Mont Springs and the power of the surf at Thunder Hole. A very special dining experience awaits you at JORDAN POND HOUSE for lunch as you take in the incredible scenery…Jordan Pond, Penobscot Mountain and the Bubbles. Stroll the beautiful gardens. This afternoon take time to explore the downtown waterfront of Bar Harbor filled with shops, eateries, galleries, and museums, or enjoy the amenities at your hotel. This evening, take in the thrills of the MAINE LUMBERJACK SHOW, see axe throwing, log rolling, hand sawing, timber climbing and more. Day 4, after a full breakfast travel to the Northern tip of Mount Desert Island and take narrated cruise along Maine’s rugged Acadian coastline from Northeast Harbor. See mountains, eagles and experience superb views of Bear Island Lighthouse, nesting osprey and basking harbor seals framed by Acadia’s dramatic mountains. Stop at the 200 year old lobster fishing village of Little Cranberry Island to visit Acadia National Park’s renowned Islesford Historical Museum and to explore an unspoiled offshore island community reminiscent of days gone by. Travel deep into Sound Fjord for a spectacular view of the vertical Eagle Cliffs rising directly from the sea. Tonight, tuck into a mouth-watering, fresh, Maine lobster feast for dinner. After a full breakfast on day 5, visit the tallest bridge observatory open to the public in the world- PENOBSCOT OBSERVATORY. Ride the elevator up 420 feet above the Penobscot River to a multi-level, floor to ceiling viewing platform and take in the 100-mile view. Meet your guide and enjoy the panoramic views from Mount Battie overlooking Penobscot Bay and the Gulf of Maine. Take time for lunch at CAMDEN VILLAGE and shopping at this lovely sea-side village. Stop in FREEPORT, home of the original L.L. BEAN and many quality outlet stores. Tonight, accommodations are at the Hampton Inn, South Portland ME for one night. After breakfast on day 6, it’s LIGHTHOUSE LOVER’S CRUISE”. The scene unfolds as you cruise from Portland’s scenic harbor seeing the Calendar Islands, coastal forts, Maine lobster boats, playful seals and an array of seabirds. View as many as seven lighthouses, including PORTLAND HEADLIGHT. Time for shopping in Old Port, Portland, this city’s historic, waterfront district. Tonight, we’ll stay at the LaQuinta Inn & Suites in Springfield, MA, dinner included, and return home after breakfast the next day.
